Pru's Pedigree
Pru is a remarkable dog who has come a very long way in a short time. At just three years old she gained her Field Trial Champion status, and qualified twice for the IGL Retriever Championship. And at five years old she has been selected for the England Gundog Team 2011. She is extremely biddable, with a good nose and a lovely hunting style.
She has been consistent in both Field Trials and Working Tests, gaining numerous awards. In September 2008, she won the prestigious One-Day Open Individual Test held at Chatsworth Country Fair and in November 2008 she won the Midland Counties Labrador Retriever Club Novice Field Trial. In April 2009, she won East Midland Gundog Club's Open Test.
Pru started the 2009 trialling season well, gaining a Certificate of Merit in U.G.B.A's Open Trial held near Bridgnorth. She also brought home the Guns' Choice trophy and trophy for Best Labrador Bitch. She then went on to win the Labrador Retriever Club of Wales Two Day Open Stake at Alvington, and thus qualify for the IGL Retriever Championships 2009. Then, two weeks later, she won Barton on Humber Gundog Club's Two Day Open Trial at Stainton-le-Vale, gaining the title of Field Trial Champion at just three years of age. Laura then ran her again two weeks later to keep her ticking over for the IGL and she was placed second at HBBBH Two Day Open held at Wellesbourne. Quite a season!
Pru had her first litter in Spring 2010. We kept one bitch pup from this litter, and hope that she will follow in her mother's talented footsteps...
Just seven weeks after giving birth to her pups, Pru was back in style - winning the Kennel Club 2 Day Open Test for Retrievers held at the Chatsworth Estate. The event, for 40 dogs, comprised 13 tests (18 retrieves) over the two days. What an incredible come-back! And 10 days later she went on to win the Labrador Retriever Club Open Water Test at Claydon House Estate, Bucks, without dropping a single point.
In 2011, Laura thought she might put Pru to one side to concentrate on Bea for the coming trial season. Pru had other ideas!... After taking her up to Drakeshead for the England Gundog Team trials, she was selected and our world went a bit topsy-turvy! She was back in the limelight. As well as running in the winning England Team at the Retriever World Cup event at Highclere Castle and the International event at the CLA Game Fair, she was also selected for the Great Britain Retriever Team to compete in the Kennel Club International Team event at Chatsworth. Laura also ran Pru in the Kennel Club 2 Day Open Test again, where she came second. This year's competition was particularly tough, with only 8 dogs making it through to the run off, but Pru proved herself again over the two days.
Laura was not expecting to run Pru in any Open Trials in 2011, as she planned to focus on Bea instead for any offered runs. However, unfortunately Bea was injured early in the season and Laura decided to use her remaining runs with Pru. Despite a lack of preparation training, Pru ran very well. In the East Midlands Gundog Club Two Day Open Stake she unfortunately went out on the last retrieve of the second day, but was awarded Guns Choice for the quality of work she had done in the rest of the stake. Laura then ran her at the Kennel Club Two Day Open Stake, held at Blankney, and was awarded Certificate of Merit, in what was an exceptionally good trial.
Pru is Laura's "dog in a million" equally at home competing in trials or tests, sitting at her peg while Laura shoots or snuggled up on the sofa watching X Factor!
