Field and R. Gent. The first day was driven in woods, and the second day was walked up on assorted crops.

21-22 October - Labrador Retriever Club of Wales Two-Day Open Stake, First
Laura & Pru have qualified for the IGL Retriever Championships!
Laura ran Jobeshill Octavia (Pru) in this two-day Open Stake, held at Kerrin Farm, Nr. Chepstow, by kind permission of Mr. T. Curtis. The trial, judged by Dr. G. Davies & Messrs Dukes, Brady & Coates, was walked up over both days in mixed roots, beet, kale and maize. The ground was challenging and the weather a bit 'mixed' but Laura & Pru made it through to the second day along with just six other dogs.
On day two, the line was stretched out with dogs working from the kale down into tall maize. The birds were plentiful and the trial was concluded quickly after the fourth round.
Jobeshill Octavia was awarded first prize, and this qualified her to run in this year's Championship, to be held at Blankney, Lincs from 30th Nov - 2nd Dec.
12-13 October - Lincolnshire Gundog Society Two-Day Open Stake, Guns Choice
So near, and yet so far!...
Laura ran Jobeshill Octavia (Pru) in this two-day Open Stake, held at Stainton-le-Vale, Lincs, by kind permission of Sir Richard Sutton Estates & Keeper Mr T Moss. The trial was walked up over both days in sugar beet, and was judged by Messrs. Rowson, Chase, Eayres & Craswell. The ground was fabulous, producing plenty of birds, and the good shooting and fine weather also made the trial more enjoyable.
Laura and Pru made it through to the second day (along with nine others), with some smart work on day one, and started off day two very well indeed with a spectacular retrieve on an unseen runner that Pru tracked through the beet for more than 100 yrds. Sadly, our luck was not to last, and later on Pru failed to pick a partridge, taken as a delayed retrieve, with Laura unfortunately working her slightly too deep of the fall area.
It was disappointing to go out so late in the day after some really nice work, but that is the nature of trialling unfortunately. However, Jobeshill Octavia's great work earlier was recognised by the Guns with the award of Guns' Choice again.
7 October - UGBA Open Trial, Certificate of Merit

Laura and Pru completed the trial and Jobeshill Octavia was awarded Certificate of Merit, as well as the Members' Memorial trophy for Guns' Choice and the Spioncop Bluey trophy for Best Labrador Bitch.
