Bea's pedigree
Bea is a bit of a departure from the brand, being our first yellow gundog! She is a confident, stylish and well put-together bitch, that showed a lot of promise from a very early age. She is always eager to please.
Her training progressed nicely during summer 2009, with several puppy test awards and, at the beginning of August, she won Midland Counties Labrador Retriever Club cold game novice test, walked up in sugar beet.
Bea made her debut in Novice Field Trials during the 2009-10 Season, and after a couple of awards she went on to win the Midland Gundog Society Novice AV Retriever Trial, held at Catton Park, South Derbyshire. A very pleasing end to that season.
Bea ran in Open Tests throughout Summer 2010 with numerous awards, culminating with a win at Chatsworth Country Fair Open Individual Test on 3rd September. This is the same test that Laura competed in two years ago with Pru and won, so it was nice to see this young dog following in her half-sister's footsteps.
Laura ran Bea in two Open trials in 2010 and had Gun's Choice in both, and a Certificate of Merit (unfortunately the Under Keeper turned a mains electric fence back on during her retrieve resulting in Bea getting a very nasty electric shock and affecting her performance a little!...).
Bea was mated to FT CH Eastdale Harry in January 2011, and we kept one bitch puppy from this litter.
Just eight weeks after having her puppies, Derek ran Bea in an Open Test and won with her, qualifying her for the URC Area Finals. Four weeks later, Laura ran Bea in the Kennel Club 2-Day Open Test (for 40 dogs) and got 4th place with her (with half-sister Pru coming 2nd).
Derek ran Bea again in Dove Valley's Open Test, and once again won with her, against a card of 46 dogs.
Laura ran Bea in her first Two Day Open Stake, and her first trial of the season at Lincolnshire Gundog Society, and she won it, qualifying for the IGL Retriever Championships 2011. She then went on to run extremely well, with Laura making a handler error, at the Dukeries Two Day Stake. This cost them a second win, but Bea was awarded Guns Choice in recognition of the lovely work she had done.
Sadly, shortly after this Bea was injured, with a suspected partial cruciate tear, and Laura was unable to run her in the Championship or any more trials for the season. She is currently undergoing strict rest, cartrophen injections and gradual rehabilitation.
